Tallahassee or Bust! Day 4: Cajun Country Here I am!

Texas... at least San Antonio... you were good to me. Now let's see how Louisiana is, I have three days here! One, tonight in Lake Charles, then I'm driving to New Orleans and staying in the French Quarter for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day... won't be with my family, but I'll be with them in spirit.

Today's drive wasn't too bad.  The morning started off a little rough... just the morning, alone on the road, still a long way to go kind of thang.  I shook it off and made it through.

Now, I have to share with you photos of this rest stop, just outside of Beaumont Texas.

Growing up as a kid, my not my Mom, but other Parent use to make us stop at places that were unusual and take pictures of buildings and things... related to his work and my brother and I didn't really understand why.
Well as I've grown up and learned to really appreciate art and architecture I too find some odd places beautiful and this is one of them.

They did an amazing job with the rest stop in and out and even in the bathroom!  I think my other Parent, who is not my Mom would appreciate the design.

Back on the road, the ride was fairly uneventful. I rolled into Lake Charles and the "Isle of Capri Casino Hotel Inn" and quickly realized, 1983/Miami Vice called and they want their color palette back!
While the room is clean and hopefully will be alright, the colors on the building and in the rooms really are dated.

But I was able to get a workout in before showering and heading downtown to "Ryan Street" where all of the action was suppose to be... I did fine THIS restaurant... waited 25 minutes, then when I saw the menu... basic bar food, I bolted trying to find something local to eat.
Instead I ended up back at a bad casino buffet.
Oh well... I think New Orleans will be better!

Clearly granite is a theme in all of these shots as well!
